Our Mission
You've studied acting for years, you've stood in a hundred audition lines, you've taken class after class, suffering for your art and paying in sweat, you've padded your resumé like an overstuffed mattress... with each breath your soul cries out "I am an ACTOR!"
Okay, now what?
Unfortunately, there's a pretty big gap between what you learned at acting school, and what it takes to "make it" in the often harsh world of showbiz. Actually sustaining a career as an actor, putting a roof over your head and providing for yourself and your family often has very little to do with what they teach you in acting school.
And so to bridge that gap, our mission is to establish the foremost online resource for aspiring and professional actors. We intend to catalogue a virtual library of information and essential tools that actors can access from anywhere, for free.
The main thrust of this site is to thoroughly examine what working actors are doing that keeps them working. What do they do on a daily, a weekly, a monthly basis... how do these people manage to keep working in an industry as insecure as showbiz?
Here you'll find interviews with working actors, directors, agents, casting directors, producers, managers, teachers, stage managers, playwrights, filmmakers... anyone with insight and experience to share. We're especially interested in championing actors putting up their own shows, making independent movies, and creating their own opportunities. Sending out your headshot and hoping for the best won't get you very far in this highly competitive business, and these are the people grabbing that proverbial bull by the horns.
The actor's life is a difficult one. You've probably heard this a million times, and you know what? It's true. But for those who are passionate about it and pursue it with relentless persistence, the joy and excitement are well worth the struggle. You may have also heard that it's not what you know, but who you know. In reality, it's a little bit of both. If you've got talent, ambition, and a passion for the actor's life, we hope you'll consider ActorsLife.com your friend in "the biz".
