I read the interview and i agree with Mr. Russell ..... i'm not in it for the fame i'm in it because there is not one show or comedy or movie that i watched and don't see my self playing that curtain role or just having fun while doing it as a career. i am a Jamaican and the industry here is not all that, but i try to get into commercials to build my resume i travel to the US and try to get auditions.

if there is any information you can give please contact me at Clinicdj@gmail.com or Keron12001@yahoo.com. thank you for reading this.

Hi Kipley,

Great post and wonderful advice! I was wondering if I could get your opinion on two things. I am an established actor in the Northwest and I currently have representation. However, I am now SAG eligible and have added voice acting into my skill set. I am considering moving over to a SAG franchised agency that has a focus on VO work, but at the same time, I don't want to be disrespectful to my current agent. What's a good rule of thumb in the case of switching agents? Should I be honest with my agent and let them know I'm looking else where? Should I peruse the other agent and if I'm accepted then let my agent know? I certainly do appreciate all the work my agent has helped me find.

My second question is about other markets. When is it time for an actor to venture out and find representation in other markets? What will a (for lack of a better word) "secondary" agent expect from an out-of-town actor? Should I expect to be as available as I am in my current market and just plan to travel every week? Specifically, I live in Seattle, but would like to work more in Portland since there are a few series shooting there. I have family in New Mexico (which is receiving a surprising amount of work) and Los Angeles and could potentially work there, as well.

Anyhow, if you have a chance, I sure would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks so much of sharing your expertise!

Hi, Darian... you'll have to contact one of the paparazzi for hire companies directly. Try a google search for a company in your area.

Best wishes,
Kipley

Hello,
I am a senior in high school and on my school's prom committee. The school's name is New Millennium Secondary School and is located in Carson, California. I have a few questions about hiring a paparazzi. It sounds exciting and something that everyone would enjoy.
1. What is the cost?
2. Is the cost by the hour?
3. Will people be able to purchase the pictures of them?

I might have a few more questions. Please get back to me as soon as you can.

Thank You,
Darian Curl

Hi, Julie - thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's always encouraging to hear from someone taking a positive and healthy approach to the business. Yes, we need to work hard, but you've hit on a key... it should be fun! You should be happy and enjoy the challenges of building a career in showbiz. Excellent - best wishes to you for a long, successful career!

I really appreciate all the information from Gayle Pillsbury. I am a second year acting student in LA and love to read well informed information on this craft. I understand you must givee 150% to get to a comfortablee level in this bussiness, if not you may feel like your trailing behind... I have done this myself and do realize what I needed to do for myself. You have to study everyday, take classes that will help you step out of your comfort zone and have fun in the process by doing the things you love by being happy within yourself is key. For me I noticed theres a fun side to me and a woman who is eager to step outside of herself and be free!

Thank you for listening...

See? Surprising results! The totals have been shifting constantly. Thanks for your comment.

I don't know whether this is a particularly unique time in US history as far as "political opposition" is concerned, but it seems to me that we're in the midst of a contentious renegotiation of American society. It's a debate that is affecting all Americans on just about every level, and clearly even performing artists are not united in their political views. I welcome this debate and appreciate the passion... ultimately, we all want what is best for ourselves, our families, and our country.

My poll showed the Republicans ahead by twice as much. Don't know how that changed so radicallly since the previous posts, but I for one am glad to see that! The one thing that irritates me the most hanging around fellow actors was their quick to speak lack of knowledge mentallity. Most rarely understood the issues but loved to voice their opinion. After spending 8 years in Hollywood, it was heartbreaking to see all the idiocy coming from people I once looked up to and respected. In fact, I won't even bother to see their work anymore. Listen....there is rarely any logic in the liberal agenda / position. It often times is disguised as something that appears to be a good thing, but it rarely ever is......history has told that to us over and over. The liberals have taken our country down the road of corruption and I Just hope we can get our country back on track before we experience the wrath of our consequences (or worse the wrath of God).

Hi, Terrance - That's an interesting observation. Did you find Bob's insights valuable, or were you unable to get past his style of speaking? I never really noticed anything particularly unusual in the way he spoke, I just always appreciated his willingness to share his experience and encourage actors to succeed. What would doing "the necessary" entail?

Thanks for your comment!
